OnePlus wants to release the cheapest and best smartphone in the future, suggesting the imminent launch of OnePlus Z
OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed the existence of the long-running OnePlus Z with a tweet from his Twitter handler. The OnePlus company has confirmed its plans to launch cheaper and affordable smartphones in the near future. "We are changing our strategy after six years of the smartphone business," OnePlus CEP Pete Lau said in an interview with Fastweg.
The OnePlus brand is not only looking to make cheap OnePlus phones so that it can sell more volumes of its phones in India, but it also plans to expand into new product categories in India. The brand's last affordable smartphone to remember was OnePlus X in 2015.
Now it seems that OnePlus is ready to return to the affordable and cheap smartphone segment with OnePlus Z. "Pete Lau also stated that the ultimate goal is to sell a lot of phones with low price tags, then spin them into the ecosystem of connected devices".
OnePlus Z is likely to be launched first in India and then make its debut in other markets such as North America and Europe, though the company has not yet officially confirmed the phone's name or launch. Rumors about OnePlus Z's specs so far suggest a 90-inch refresh rate with a 6.4-inch FHD + AMOLED punch-hole display, similar to the OnePlus 8. This phone comes with 5G support via Snapdragon 765 chipset, it can be expanded to 8GB RAM. It can have 256GB internal storage.
For photography, the OnePlus Z sports a triple rear camera setup with a 48MP main sensor, 16MP secondary sensor, and 12MP sensor. Rumors also suggest that the phone will have a 4,000mAh battery and it will support 30W fast charging. As an inexpensive OnePlus phone, you should not expect premium features like IP rating for water-resistance as well as wireless charging.
